It may be time to have the, gulp, “talk.” With your parents?

Let’s face it, we’re not getting any younger and neither are our parents. Just because they’re getting older doesn’t mean Mom and Dad still aren’t facing some financial challenges. They might have larger health care bills and other unexpected expenses.

As their child, you’re feeling a little awkward, a little unqualified, maybe even a little responsible for their financial plight. Don’t worry, they still love you. Fivecentnickel recommends some delicate ways to approach the topic. They’re rules to guide you down this very windy path and potentially slippery slope.

Most of us can thank Mom and Dad for sending us on our way through life. No sacrifice, no “loan,” no expense too big. It may have helped you, but where has it gotten them? If you’re in a position to help your parents regain some financial freedom, do so. Even a small change in the way they approach their finances could improve their overall quality of life. So have the talk – honestly, openly and with a plan in mind. Who knows, they may thank you. You may even make them proud (again).

These ‘parents’ are only ageist fanatics who are out to steal others’ lives. LEAVE THE “BOOMERS” ALONE!

Parents are the foundation of our life. If they didn’t lay it out well, we wouldn’t be a successful person, it true in my case. So I totally believe in lending them an hand today when they sacrificed their life for us. It is prudent thing to do as a kid and I do it every month. I am proud to support my parents since the day I got my job. You are just giving back a small part they gave to you to make you who are.
