Is that a bank branch in your pocket?

Have you had the chance to download the Official App of Savers? Yep, that’s ING DIRECT’s full-featured mobile application for smart phones—helping Savers to be more nimble and efficient. With mobile banking, your finances are accessible anytime, anywhere. Frankly, we can’t think of anything more financially liberating than being untethered from the desktop, laptop or bank branch line. This means you can do stuff like check balances while you’re waiting in line at the DMV, pay your cable bill during a particularly boring office meeting or send a quick pay-back to your pal for covering dinner—while still at the restaurant. To celebrate this banking liberation, we have this cool contest called “Bank From Any Corner.” So make sure to grab the app from the iTunes app store or BlackBerry App World, find a happy place and enter the contest. Any way or anywhere you look at it, our mobile app’s going to save you time and money.

Which video is your favorite? To get word out about our mobile banking app, ING DIRECT tapped a community of creative types to craft short, fun videos. Below are the winning entries. Which is your favorite?

Whoa, ING, you did great doing the iPhone first. What more could anyone need? These droid and plamers are really in whine mode.

  2. Annie

Another vote for an Android app. I love this bank, but feel totally dissed that iPhone and Crackberry got their apps first. Why couldn’t you get a third team to put together an app for android phones to be released at the same time?

  3. Jesse

I motion for a windows mobile app!

  4. SA

Android is now the largest selling smartphone. Maybe ING has become like the old bank. Whats up with that?

  5. Clayton

It would certainly be nice to have an app for the rest of the smartphones out there–the ones running Palm, or Windows, or Droid, or whatever it is Nokia’s doing.

Or, you know, you could save money by just making one really good mobile website that offers all the same functionality as a native app but has the advantage of working on any smartphone with a browser.

    Although, really, droid-please :)

What about Android???? No mobile banking!

  7. Lindsey

Oh ing i love you but come on! Android please. I was already getting jealous of chase’s cap
abilities and this just puts salt in the wound.

  8. Ann Droyd

Can we get some Android love?

  9. Bob Schneider

I like to have such an app on Android. Why did you not put out a version for the Android.

  10. Morgan

Just want to say thanks for the awesome app. Checking my balance on my mobile web browser was a pain. I was just thinking the other day that you guys should have a mobile app. And now you do! Kudos for the great ideas. Keep them coming!

I was looking forward to getting this app until I realized my Droid was not supported. Terrible to release this app without support for the Android OS. Very disappointed as are many others I would imagine. I would assume it’s not that difficult to copy and paste the source code and do a few tweaks to make the app compatible for Android phones. Lack of thought on ING’s part, in my opinion, by alienating part of their customer base.

Agreed. Android is a must. We expect this from you soon.

First of all, I am totally excited that ING Direct (an ONLINE bank!), has finally produced a mobile app. It is a logical step that should have happened months if not a year ago. Chase, USAA, and other institutions that, to me, are not as progressive as ING, have produced apps much sooner and more extensively than ING’s version.

The downside, I have an Android phone. ATM finder? Thats it? What a shame but it is a small step in the right direction.

Great first step but what I would like to see is direct deposit of checks with the use of the camera. Think Chase and USAA application for the iPhone. Also, please just keep developing the app for all platforms as it is not a phone war as much as it is a great step for a great bank! Keep up the great work ING!

By now ING Direct should have more than just ING Direct ATM Finder App for the Android! Let’s get it developed ASAP since Android Phones RULE!

  15. JW

Looking forward to Android app soon. Quite surprised you guys picked that last!

  16. James

@ JDH - seriously? We’re just in whine mode? How about when you were complaining that there wasn’t one for iPhone? Hmmm? I was there with you, until my 3G crapped out thanks to OS4. Since then I’ve switched to Android only to find now iPhone has an ING app! Argh!? Why release for all the other platforms and not Android? Call me a whiner if you like, but that’s just not right. Sure, it’s in development, but speed it up please. That’s all we’re saying.

  17. Agree with Adam

I agree with Adam and everyone else that has an Android phone. I am disappointed that you haven’t come up with an app yet for the Android phones. I have a Droid X and would like to be able to access my accounts. I hope this is available very soon.

  18. Joe Theriault

My one regret over switching from a Blackberry to my Android phone is that my pocket is now branch-less! Please help me live a life free of (smart phone) regret!

  19. Scott

    Android Banking App PLEASE!!!

  20. Alex M

Another vote for Android, please. I love you, ING <3

  21. Diane
